As I wrote in my previous post on identity theft and your online job search, the Internet has opened up a whole new way for people to steal your identity.

When I need information about identity theft, I can always count on the FTC website. They have a whole section for people who are researching or writing about identity theft. Today I found a nifty tool from OnGuard Online: The ID Theft Faceoff. It’s a quiz that tests your knowledge of ID theft. The quiz itself is not a comprehensive training tool, but it’s fun to see if you get all the questions right– and get your face back…you’ll see what I mean ;)

The main identity theft area for consumers is here and this is the page I’m talking about for you information hounds.

Phishing is one of the most common ways that people can try to steal your identity. Many criminals use job listings to get the information they want. Watch this video to learn more about it.

This is good stuff, don’t wait until you’ve been burned. Educate yourself now.

One Response to “Protect yourself from identity theft”

Thanks for bringing such a great article, I really like it. We definitely all need to be more aware of how serious Identity theft has become. Did you know the victims are being charged an approx $93.000 and 28.000 million victims has been reported within the last 3 years (27.000/day) Only 1 out of 700 thieves gets prosecuted. Also you will be partially responsible after 48 hours and fully after 60 days and yet you may not even know it has happened to you. Scary.

    Thanks again:)
