You might want to give a listen to the podcast of my radio show from last Friday. I talked with the owner of AccuTranGlobal and they are actively recruiting transcriptionists. You should also listen to the show on the 30th. I'll be interviewing M.J. Willard, the Executive Director of The National Telecommuting Institute. NTI is a nonprofit organization specializing in staffing Americans who need work-from-home jobs due to physical disability.

Medical Transcriptionist sounds like a terrific work at home job opportunity however I have found, with most careers unless you have actual experience working in the field it is difficult to find work although the training is fairly easy to obtain. I looked into the field after working for 20 plus years as a nurse in critical care, I was obviously familiar with the terminology and the procedures, my work experience was not even taken into account and that was after taking a full years course in transcription, billing and coding. Without actual on the job experience in transcription regardless of your background the work is simply not available unfortunately but like everything else, no experience, no job. Incidentally, yes, I’m still disabled and still hoping to find the ideal work at home job like medical transcription … well kind of anyway.

It’s true that MT’s do a lot of typing, but it’s misleading to say that without qualifying it with the fact that they must also have medical terminology knowledge and training as well as the reference materials and equipment.

Very nice articles, some more info from my side on this…. Doing medical transcription from home requires lots of typing, so if you are a good typist this would be the perfect situation for you. Many transcriptionists enjoy making an average of $25 to $35 per hour! Another great thing about this kind of home business is that you have flexibility, you are your own boss, and can work the hours you choose.
