I completely agree. One reason many of us want to work from home is because of the perceived freedom we would have – but we often overlook the fact that if you’re still working for someone else, they still have control over what you do all day and when. It’s becoming easier than ever to start your own business though – often people are scared to take this step because of all the additional bookkeeping and tax management that is required with running your own business, but there are companies that can help with that. I started working with MBO Partners, http://www.mbopartners , when I started consulting and the transition from working from an employer to working for myself was totally smooth – I still have access to all the same benefits that I would working for a company, and they handle a lot of those back-office tasks that would take up a lot of my time, like invoicing clients.
