Last month I lost my hard drive. Well, I’m still dealing with it. A friend of mine had recommended a local computer guy to try to retrieve my data from the old hard drive. The last time I talked to him, he hadn’t been able to get his data recovery program to run on my drive without stalling. His plan was to work on it over the weekend and is supposed to give me an update today.  If he isn’t able to get to the data, I’ll have to use a data recovery company, which will apparently set me back several hundred dollars.  Looks like I’d better come up with some cheap creative gift ideas this year.
Meanwhile, my very kind neighbor has loaned me a spare hard drive of his. And how do I repay him? By getting infected! Yes. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse we have a virus. What’s happening is that windows with random websites keep popping up. There’ll be like 20 of them within seconds. Luckily, I’ve been through this before and knew to go to the Tech Support Forums. I’m still going through the process, but I haven’t seen a popup since the first scan they had me run. Whew!
I really need some good news.
