Being a mother myself I understand the complications that can arise when deciding to continue your education. Who will watch the kids? How am I going to afford full time daycare, babysitter or nanny? Well, the fact is that with today’s advancement in not only technology, but the use of technology for education, we as parents have the same opportunities as the kids who are fresh out of high school. There are hundreds of online schools offering a range of degree programs for busy parents just like you or I. Whether you are wanting a degree in business, finance, education or are interested in an online LPN school the internet offers a program for you.
Internet is an Amazing Tool: Use it to Your Benefit
The internet is one of the most powerful tools that we have today to make life, schooling and even working easier and more accessible. Everything you need to complete a course online is at the tip of your fingers, in the comfort of your home. When taking an online education you are an email or skype call away from your instructors, allowing you to connect with people who are available to answer any questions you may have. Learning on your own terms are very beneficial, especially where kids are concerned. The structure and flexibility of an online education allows you to be a great student and a great parent at the same time. So you have time to spend with your family, cook dinner and the usual house cleaning etc, and when the time is right for you, you go to class.
Working World
In today’s corporate and working world having some sort of education is, most of the time, a requirement. Having the knowledge you need to be effective in the field that you work is the best way to get the promotion or job that you are seeking. Without an education there are few job opportunities available. Most employers want to see credentials and the more educated you are the more likely you are to be hired. Not only will education put you in line for the position you are wanting but knowledge makes you valuable and irreplaceable. For a parent the security of a good job is very important. Now with advanced technology and internet schooling there are great opportunities for parents to get continued educations and the jobs that follow. Having an education and good paying job is what affords us the home, clothing, food etc. that we need to take care of our families.
You Don’t Have to Live a College Life
For most adults the life of a college student and being forced to take classes with college kids isn’t something that is all that appealing. Which is another benefit of taking your courses online. There are no specific places to study, no being immersed in the college atmosphere and of course the flexibility and opportunity to earn your education from home. The average college class lasts around one to three hours. You must be at class at a certain time, the majority of the class the instructor will lecture, assign homework and inform students of upcoming tests. With an online course the flexibility is amazing. Normally you will log in and watch, read, and listen to material over the course you are taking. Most of the time you have as much time as you’d like to cover the material and complete tasks and tests for course completion. The instructor is usually available through email or IM and will gladly answer questions you have but normally does not concern themselves with the pace at which you work. As a parent this is an option that may work perfectly for you. Time with your family is important, maybe you’re a working parent who wants to earn a degree to move up at work. Either way this affords you the time to do everything you need to as a parent, and gives you the flexible opportunity to earn an education at the same time.
I know for me that online education was the only option. As a parent there are always other factors that play in to the decisions we make for ourselves. Life is no longer about our needs and that reflects on all aspects of our day to day hustle and bustle. By using the internet as a tool we no longer have to put our education on the back burner and can secure a higher paying job once a degree is earned. There is a certain security that all parents want to provide for their children by getting an education you open many doors for yourself and for your family.
