    Hi Everyone,
I have a carpet cleaning business in Houston,TX that was doing pretty good until the economy went bad, and with it my clientele. I have a website for the business but I dont
know what I have to do the get it to show up in a search. Right now it’s somewhere in the yahoo/google netherworld (LOL).

Is there someone on here that can give me some insight or know of anyone that coud give me insight on how I can get my local website on the front
page of a Yahoo or Google search to increase my business without it costing me 5 or 10k $$$? If so please share with me.

I thank you and my hungry over-eating children thank you.

    thanks,

Tony: There are many search engine optimization techniques that are very effective. There is a man by the name of Stephen Pierce that teaches how to leverage the internet to grow your business. He is actually a part of a business that I am in also. But, he teaches individuals (they pay thousands to spend time with him to learn from him) and CEO’s of major companies like FedEx how to do the same thing. I would encourage you to go to his website, http://www.dtalpha.com/talkback. There are many teaching entries there. I am sure you will find more than you can implement there and any of them that you put into practice on a regular basis will help. The key is to be persistent and consistent. Don’t quit if you don’t get immediate results. Stick with it. It will help.

You can spend a lot of time sorting through work at home job sites, which supposedly have work at home opportunities. Yet, they never make it easy to simply see the details. Instead you get bounced around to other web sites that just do the same thing. I have not looked at the google opportunity yet, which just asks for an initial shipping fee. Yet most work at home leads want some payment to be made, before you get any information. They probably just take your money, and then it bye bye. It makes me think that the whole work at home job listings is a bunch of lousy scams. They will take the money of those who are snared by all the corny testimonials. Probably most of those who are running a successful business out of their home, did not start with so called web listings. They probably had a product or service which they could advertise and provide from their home.

    Hi James,

I agree with your first sentence, however in the case of my own website the job listings are pretty straightforward. If you look through the listings in all job categories (as opposed to the Home Business category– I’ll get to that in a second) you’ll see that every single one of them contain simple application instructions like “send your resume to this email” or “call us at ……”, etc. There are also no fees involved in any of them.

It sounds like you are talking about ads for business opportunities, not jobs. These can indeed be trickier. Starting any business requires some kind of initial investment (unlike a job– which shouldn’t). Just because they require an investment it doesn’t mean that it’s not legitimate. On the other hand, it is critical that you do your homework before making any kind of commitment.

I did get my start, ten years ago, by responding to an ad on the Internet. I made enough money doing that to start this website. Over time, I was able to surpass what I used to make with my former full time job. So, don’t discount everything you see just because it’s on the Internet. Just be cautious, do research and use common sense.

    Hello,

I am in such a situation, I think the stress is going to literally make me sick daily. I take online classes and I help take care of my elderly mother. I have to find a job but I would preferrably like to work from home because of school and my mother. I have searched the internet for years with no luck. I am always worried everything is a scam. I know there are legitimate work at home jobs but can someone steer me toward them because I cannot find them.

    Mary

Mary, I’m sorry to hear about your stressful situation. Without knowing anything about your work experience and skills it’s hard to make specific recommendations. Here are some links from my site that might be helpful:
