Happy Thanksgiving! if you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time you know that I live in Northern California, not Palm Springs. We’re spending the holiday at my in-laws’ this year. It’s about a 12-hour drive from our house (and luckily our oldest daughter and her boyfriend are coming with us and can share with the driving).
Throughout most of the year, I find Palm Springs to be unbearably hot but in the winter it’s actually very nice. It’s usually much cooler and it should be around 70 degrees while we’re there. (It’s actually Monday while I’m writing this, WordPress let’s you schedule future posts….don’t you just love technology?)
While I truly enjoy having Thanksgiving at home, I’m really looking forward to this vacation. I haven’t seen my in-laws for far too long and this will be their first time meeting the cradle robber who is defiling their precious granddaughter Lauren’s boyfriend. They both have two jobs and go to school full time, so it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen them myself. I was worried that they might not be able to get the time off to come with us, but it worked out.
This will be the first Thanksgiving dinner in many years that I won’t be cooking. I am doing the pies though, so at least I’m still contributing. While I’m going to miss hosting, I am looking forward to a more relaxing holiday than usual.
I hope your holiday is warm, wonderful and full of the people who mean the most to you.
