Judging by the number of blogs in the blogosphere, there must be money being made. According to the Blogosphere News, “WordPress.com, Automattic’s hosted version of WordPress, just recently passed a whopping 4 million blogs”. According to Technorati, overall blog growth is exploding.

In a post over at ProBlogger, Darren Rowse shared how he makes money blogging. He goes beyond the standard AdSense ads and uses several different revenue streams on his blog. Darren makes, as he puts it, “well over six figures per year (but less than seven figures)”. Sounds good to me.
Another way to make money blogging is to submit all of your blogs to multiple get paid to blog websites like Blogitive, Blogsvertise, Review Me, PayperPost, LoudLaunch and then start writing sponsored posts.
Believe it or not, some people are strongly against monetizing their blogs. They feel that it’s greedy, unethical, evil, and so on. I’m not one of those people. I believe that if I’m writing something that other people find worthwhile and useful, then why shouldn’t I be entitled to some kind of compensation for the time and effort (not to mention the cost of hosting a blog) that’s put into it. After all, no one is paying me to write these posts.

Hi Sharon,
I believe in blog monetization too. I take it as some form of compensation too but also how it can help you recover some costs in maintaining it to the quality your readers and subscribers expect. Apart from hosting, there are other costs too like purchasing of a decent WP blog theme, advertising costs.
