Can a guy really make a living answering text messages from his couch in his tighty-whities?

Evidently, yes. I come across some strange/weird/entertaining websites in my online travels. Today, while searching craigslist for telecommute jobs, I came across a listing from Johnny27.com. The job involved internet researching and the application instructions specified that you include:

An answer, in 30 words or less, to the question, “What does a Sea Cucumber do when it is threatened?”

Well, obviously I just had to know. It took me about 2 seconds to find this. In a nutshell, the sea cucumber has various defense mechanisms, including the ability to “goopify” it’s body so that it can basically pour itself into a small hole and then re solidify itself once out of a predator’s reach. It can also eject all the water out of it’s system, becoming a hard, turd-like lump. Last, and most impressive is that when a sea cucumber is seriously stressed it blows out these spaghetti-like tubes from their rear end (it seems that sea cucumbers breathe through their butts..wait, what?) and from these tubes a soup of defensive chemicals are released. Perhaps they would have been more aptly named sea skunks?

Anyway, I’ve gotten a bit off point here. What is really amazing to me is that first of all the website itself. What you do is text any question at all to the number on the site and within minutes (or even less than a minute says Johnny) you’ll have your answer. Pretty cool idea for this instant gratification era we live in.

Second, they’re hiring people to find the answers to these questions at lightning speeds from their homes (or dorms). This would be a great way for a starving student to make some extra cash.

Last, this guy has in fact created a job for himself where he is literally able to work in his underwear. Way to go, Johnny! I’m still nagged by a question though: Did he already know all of this about the sea cucumber or what?
